LOL! Funny to discover how many Artists get inspired by the same elements. I'm a great Fan of Katsuhiro Otomo, a not unfamous Comic Artist, perhaps you know his work "Akira", "Domu" or "Steamboy". He's a Manga-Artist at all, but I read some older unknown Short-Stories of him recently and dicovered this one: (appeared in the Short-Story "Fire Ball" from 1982)

He must be inspired by Escher as you were, although you worked out the Theme very differently, as a photo, wich is very impressive!!! Anyway, respect to your art man!!! I love the well composed and total clear photos you do, especially those with the impressive light techniques, like in "Electrical", "Gold and silver" or especially "Source II".

What can I say - Keep on deviating!!!
kil1k Featured By Owner Mar 24, 2006  Hobbyist Photographer
thanks a lot :) i'm a huge fan of otomo, akira is one of my favorite manga ...
even if i'm also a fan of myazaki, and masamune shirow, otomo has this thing to tell a story...i loved akira...
an excellent link you gave me... i really enjoyed the inspiration of escher by this manga artist...
thanks for your words about me...
RanTanTan Featured By Owner Mar 24, 2006
Yeah,Yeah! =D You're right, especially about otomo-san, he's just a genius in telling storys which ties you till you read the end! I started reading comic books with "traditional european" ones - like Herge, Uderzero & Gosciny or J.Giraud (a.k.a. Moebius), but since I discovered Akira for myself, I can't get my self away from the influences of "far east" *g*

Look around a bit on the site if you want to discover some things about the "really" unknown works of Otomo, I never even heard about some of them before.. but I've got to thank you too - didn't know anything about MC Escher before today. Although I've already seen sooo many pictures of him (except the one you were inspired by) without knowing anything about the artist. (f.e. the "endless" stairs..)!
Cya
kil1k Featured By Owner Mar 24, 2006  Hobbyist Photographer
yeah, i'm just like you. before knowing his name, i had seen so many drawings...the endless stairs of course, but also the neverending fountain [link]
it was really mind tricking, and i'm sure this kind of artists helps childs to grow mentally.
Recently i tried a game named sudoku, and i was quite surprised to feel again that kind of "child" instant. when you're brain is excited by the unknown :D
Oh and if you like comic books, french, there is an excellent drawer Andreae, he's from my city, and he has created a 3 album serie named "mange coeur", pure beauty...
RanTanTan Featured By Owner Mar 25, 2006
Geezus! :shocked:I remember this one hanging in the front of the room of our art-teacher. this is now more than 4 years ago. I remember myself staring endless times on it..
Haven't seen such a "clear" style for a longer time, remembers me slightly to "Sillage", from Morvan & Buchet. Thanks for the tip, it's amazing what I've learned about unknown or more spezial comic writers and artist since I'm here on DA.
